Hardcover. First Edition. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. 223 pages, illustrations (by the author?), frontis with tissue guard, green cloth over boards with gilt decoration and lettering. A writer of books on ornithology and mammalogy, the author has woven fact and fancy to create an "instructive amusement" for children with the hopes that it will possess some interest to "children of a larger growth." All edges lightly worn, extremities frayed with tiny splits to spine ends, pale patch on lower spine, endpapers stained, front free endpaper is torn and bears a stamp (which is duplicated on the front fly) stating "Loaned temporarily by King's Daughters' Union.
