limited edition--No. 885 of 1,000 copies, letters and papers of an artillery officer in the War for Southern Independence 1861-1865 with introduction, notes and index by his son C. G. Chamberlayne, 440 pages, illustration throughout, maps, folding map at rear shows all of the places mentioned in the book, red and gray cloth over boards with gilt spine title and flag. Boards edgeworn and mottled, corners curved, backstrip slightly faded and and soiled with ends worn, endpapers age toned, front free endpaper has ink name at upper edge with two small holes underneath plus bookplate, page edges lightly foxed, contents near fine and binding is tight.
