no date (circa 1932), 309 pages, 215 illustrations by the author, red cloth over boards with title and illustrations imprinted on front board--all in gilt accented with black, gilt spine title. Edges lightly worn, lower corners worn to boards and slightly frayed, backstrip darkened and gilt dulled with ends fraying, hinges slightly weakened, pages age darkened. A gem for collectors of decorative covers.

Early printing---statement on Dramatis Personae page: "First produced in London May 25th, 1878, and still continuing one of the chief attractions of the city. At the Boston Museum Dec. 2d, 1878." The title page date is 1878 and the date on the front panel is 1879. Cover is edgeworn and soiled, rear panel seperated from spine by two lower inches, quarter-inch of backstrip missing at upper edge, half-inch closed tear in fore edge of front panel, one leaf detached. va-pabx
